"Service Above Self"

Rotary Club of Henley-in-Arden

Rotary International is an organisation of business people (past or present; male or female) who meet socially to talk about how to be of service to those less fortunate than themselves.

The Rotary Club of Henley-in-Arden meets weekly on Mondays (except Bank Holidays) at 7 pm for dinner at 7.30pm at Henley Golf & Country Club. There are 21 members (all male at the moment) who meet to discuss helping those in need in the community - whether it is local, national or international.

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

Current club projects include providing a fresh water storage and distribution system for a second Home in Nairobi. In Henley itself, we run a small fleet of electric wheelchairs for the disabled and we are constantly considering other needy causes. For example, we made a substantial financial contribution to Henley High School in their bid for Arts School status, and hope their revised application this autumn is successful.

During the year, we raise about £8,500, which is distrubuted to charties at home and overseas.

We have fun socially as well. We have about 4 Ladies Nights each each, a President's Night, which is a formal occasion, and may other events. You can see our programme on-line.

If you are a Rotarian, from near or far, home or abroad, come and visit us at Henley Golf & Country Club on a Monday evening (Bank Holidays excepted) and enjoy a meal in warm, convivial company. If you an ex-Tabler then we will welcome your friendship and expertise even more!
